Who needs Nicolas Cage memes when you can get the real thing?
Back in the 1990s, Cage teamed up with Tim Burton for a Superman movie that never came to fruition. The actor even tried on Clark Kent’s superhero suit for the director, and thanks to filmmaker Jon Schnepp, we can now see that glorious footage.
Schnepp’s new documentary, “The Death of ‘Superman Lives': What Happened?,” looks back on the ill-fated film with exclusive interviews and never-before-seen footage. While the trailer for the doc only offers a quick glimpse at Cage suited up as Superman, an exclusive clip from the Los Angeles Times, which has now leaked on YouTube, gives a more extensive look at Cage’s costume test with Burton. Schnepp calls the clip the “holy grail” of footage, and we couldn’t agree more. The Cage of Steel has arrived.
“The Death of ‘Superman Lives': What Happened?” is available on July 9 on the film’s website.
