David Letterman was actually excited while announcing the musical guest on Thursday’s episode of “The Late Show.” Hootie and the Blowfish reunited to perform the 1994 hit “Hold My Hand.” That was also the track they played during their televised debut on Letterman’s show that year.
The set fit in with Letterman’s farewell season, which continues to showcase clips from his years on the show. (His final episode will air May 20.) When thanking the band, he said, “It sounded great in 1994 — it still sounds great!”
