Iggy Azalea Calls Out The Media For Creating 'Beef' With Britney Spears

Iggy Azalea wants you to know that her and Britney Spears are friends, despite what the press might say.

The Australian rapper took to Twitter to criticize the media for creating a manufactured “beef” between her and Britney Spears.

The faux drama started Monday, when the 25-year-old rapper sent a tweet saying her collaboration with Spears didn’t receive as much promotion as it should have in order for it to be successful. Some took this as a hit to Brit’s team for not holding up their end of the deal.

Spears then sent a tweet exclaiming that she was “so thankful” she had shows to look forward to for the rest of the year, which was seen as a shot at Azalea, who canceled her tour earlier this month.

Following reports that the duo, who recently released their collaborative single “Pretty Girls,” were blaming each other for the unsuccessful track, Azalea sent a lengthy series of tweets to set the record straight.

Iam honestly not surprised but still really saddened that the media is trying to create a “beef” between @britneyspears and myself.

We remain friends and i haven’t said anything negative at all about her. Does wishing we had promoted a single more make me the bad guy?

i feel like the media wants women in music to get out and mud wrestle each other. As a woman i take great offense.

Women in the media should be able to have a grown up and subjective opinion without it being anything more than that. its disappointing.

No one is throwing “shade” or “shots” on either side of the table. The girl is my friend and i support her 100%.

i feel like the press just wants to see girls be overtly sexual to one another, and have no real opinion other than “i love it! ^.^”

Im over it. Women in music are not the same as a teen drama. Stop making us all out to be, we are business women & artists. Not mean girls.
