Sony Pictures’ ongoing Spider-Man revamp continues. First, the studio pushed back The Amazing Spider-Man 3 from 2016 to 2018, and now, after Drew Goddard’s Sinister Six opens in 2016, Sony plans to release another spinoff, this time featuring one of Spidey’s female counterparts, in 2017.
Which female counterpart, you ask? Well, we don’t know quite yet. However, we do know that Lisa Joy Nolan (Westworld) is scripting the project, with Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach producing.
Character-wise, there are several likely candidates: Silver Sable, Stunner, Firestar, (some version of) Spider-Woman and Black Cat. Of course, the alter ego of that last one, Felicia Hardy, was played by Felicity Jones in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which makes her an obvious choice to star.
