Isaac Mizrahi: A Psychic Told Lena Dunham's Parents That She Was 'The Second Coming'

Isaac Mizrahi has known Lena Dunham since she was a “tiny child,” and while he only saw the TV-star-to-be “every three years or something,” the fashion designer never had a doubt that the future “Girls” showrunner would be a mega-star.

His theory stemmed from the verbal confirmation of a licensed professional — well, sort of. He explained the whole situation in a HuffPost Live interview on Monday:

I was friendly with her mom and her dad and they always knew she was going to be a huge star because we all share this one psychic in New York who would say, like, ‘Yeah, yeah, you just had this daughter, and she’s going to be the second coming, apparently.’ Like, that’s what Laurie [Simmons, Lena’s mother] used to tell us, and we were like, ‘Yeah, well, good!’ And then she [the psychic] was right! So we always knew she was going to be a huge star.

The “Project Runway: All Stars” judge also remembered Dunham’s precociousness as a kid.

“She was incredibly smart, and saying incredibly smart things at such a young age,” he said.

And while the “Not That Kind of Girl” author seems ubiquitous now, Mizrahi thinks there’s a lot more success about to come her way.

“I think it’s the tip of the iceberg for her because she’s a wellspring, that girl,” he said. “Just when you think she’s done something so smart that she can’t top herself, she writes a book that’s incredibly smart.”

This extends to her sense of style, which he also praised.

“[Lena] is the embodiment of style. She is the moment of style.”
