Jon Stewart Watches The Media Freak Out Over Hillary's Burrito Order

There was an “important Latino political story” making news on Tuesday, but as Jon Stewart pointed out on “The Daily Show,” it wasn’t the one the media covered.

While Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) was announcing his decision to run for the GOP nomination, Hillary Clinton was eating at a Chipotle restaurant, and the media seemed to be focused on every detail of her order.

For the record, it was a chicken burrito bowl.

“How could Rubio have known that on the exact same day he was launching his candidacy, Hillary Clinton would eat lunch?” Stewart said.

But Rubio didn’t help his case when he finally got some air time and cracked a joke about how “our leaders are taxing and borrowing and regulating like it’s 1999.”

As Stewart pointed out, 1999 was actually a pretty good year.

“Not only is the joke slightly lame, but it’s a little inaccurate,” Stewart said. “The American economy should be so lucky as to be like it was in 1999. The Clinton-era year was the peak of possibly the greatest peacetime boom in our history: budget surplus, low inflation, high employment.”
