We’re used to seeing Julianne Moore looking sleek and chic on the red carpet, with her shiny hair and elegant dresses. So we were a bit taken aback when she swapped her signature look for something a little edgier as she attended an event in New York City just a few days ago.

Moore’s hair was crimped, giving her a grungy-bedhead look — and we’re not quite sure how we feel about it. Crimped hair, it seems, might be making a comeback. Models at designer Stella McCartney’s runway show at Paris Fashion Week sported the wavy look, as well as at Issey Miyake’s show.

Though we love the ’80s with all our hearts, in all its big-hair-loving, blue-eyeshadow-wearing glory, we probably prefer Moore’s locks glossy, like they were at last week’s Met Gala.

Still, we have to applaud her bravery on this one … we just hope it’s not a permanent thing.
