Last-Place Pro Golfer Swings Like ‘Happy Gilmore’ At PGA Event

Sometimes if you see yourself in last place in a golf tournament, a slight change to your game might be needed.

That’s exactly what golfer John Peterson decided to do on hole No. 10 at the CIMB Classic on Sunday. Peterson was in last place, so he decided that it was as good of a time as any to drive the ball similar to the fictional golf character Happy Gilmore.

Let it be known if you Gilmore it off the first on Sunday you shoot 6 under. @drewsteckel pic.twitter.com/eFjaVxWdVe

Golfer Jason Dufner also got Peterson’s drive on video and had an awesome caption: “@petepga when u in last place and u trying to get turnt up for the rd.. #happygilmore #takeadeepbreath #startofa66.”

Turnt, indeed.

As Golf Digest notes, Peterson would par the hole and shoot a 66 for the round, so maybe this drive gave him the inspiration he needed for the day.

Personally, we think Peterson was missing the mini crow hop that Happy Gilmore implemented in his drives, but it was definitely a pretty good imitation.

Our official stance: There should be more of these type drives in the PGA. It’s time for golfers to give the people what they want.
