Warning: spoilers for this issue ahead!

Even if you’ve somehow managed to avoid all the marketing hype and press releases and news reports, the cover to Life With Archie #36 leaves little doubt as to what transpires within. One of the most enduring characters dies in this issue. And because this is Life With Archie rather than Afterlife With Archie, there’s no hope of a resurrection. Normally I’d hate to have the big twist spoiled ahead of time, but this is one of those cases where knowing what’s coming actually enhances the reading experience. Issue #36 isn’t flawless, but it’s a fitting and emotional goodbye to a comic book icon.
