Look, I’ve only been waiting 29 freaking years for a new Mad Max movie. So today’s Warner Bros. panel in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con was no big thing. Oh, wait. It was a huge thing because director George Miller’s long-awaited sequel to the classic apocalyptic series, Mad Max: Fury Road, was on hand.
Mel Gibson is long gone now, but if you’re going to replace Mel, you couldn’t do any better than to go with Tom Hardy, who is reinventing Max Rockatansky in Fury Road. Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Hugh Keays-Byrne, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also star in this return to the Wasteland!
The studio also had Jupiter Ascending on hand, the latest sci-fi film from Lana and Andy Wachowski which stars Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. Tatum plays Caine, “a genetically engineered ex-military hunter” who comes to Earth to find Kunis’ Jupiter Jones, “a young woman whose genetic signature marks her for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.” Oh yeah, and Tatum has pointy Spock ears!
