Konami announced today that it will host an “exclusive gala evening” next month in Germany where, among other things, Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima will reveal all-new gameplay for the upcoming open-world game, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Taking place on August 13 at the Musical Dome venue in Cologne, Germany alongside the Gamescom conference, this 60-minute special Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain preview event will be hosted by games journalist Geoff Keighley.
Konami will reveal the “latest details” on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain during the event, while Kojima himself will “exclusively present new gameplay” for the title. This video will showcase what Konami describes as the “impressive capabilities of Kojima Productions’ breathtaking FOX Engine and more.”
According to Konami, what the publisher will show from The Phantom Pain will give you an idea of the “sheer scale and ambition” of the game.
The special event will also include a live Q&A session with Kojima, as well as a “few surprises.” How can you get in? It’s not clear just yet, but Konami says you can win your way in through a series of competitions and partnerships to be announced later. Further details on ticket availability for the event will be announced “shortly,” Konami says.
If you are not able to attend the Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain event in person, you’ll be able to watch a stream on Twitch. The event begins at 8 p.m. CET on August 13. The game is coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4, though no release date whatsoever has been announced.
Earlier this week, Konami officially announced its Gamescom plans, saying it will bring Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and PES 2015 to the show. In both cases, Konami plans to show off “major advances” to the games during the event.
GameSpot will be on the ground at Gamescom, which runs August 14-17, bringing you all the news as it happens.
