Former “O.C.” star Mischa Barton is dealing with some struggles in California as her Beverly Hills home is in foreclosure.
People magazine reports Barton is five months behind on her mortgage payments, owing $100,000. The magazine states the lender has placed the property in foreclosure.
Barton purchased the eight-bedroom, 10-bathroom mansion, which boasts three guest houses on 1.2 acres of land, in 2005 for $6.4 million with a $4.2 million loan, according to TMZ. She has tried to sell the property multiple times in the past and attempted to rent it out last year, but to no avail.
The Bowmont Drive home is currently listed with Joe Babajian of Rodeo Realty for nearly $8.7 million.
The 28-year-old had roles in “Notting Hill” and “The Sixth Sense” before shooting to fame in 2003 as it-girl Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.” After leaving the show in 2006, she was arrested for DUI in 2007 and placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold in 2009.
“It was a full-on breakdown,” she told People magazine last year about the hospitalization. “I was under enormous pressure.”
