New Godzilla Game Revealed for Japan, And It's A PS3-Exclusive

After the success of Legendary Pictures’ blockbuster monster movie Godzilla–released in theaters last month and featuring Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston–Bandai Namco has announced a new game based on the radioactive beast for release in Japan.

The game–a PlayStation 3-exclusive–is simply titled Godzilla. According to a Famitsu story (via CVG), you’ll play the beast itself, wrecking cities as you face off against some of his foes.

The report goes on to say that the upcoming Godzilla game will span the many eras of Godzilla films, with screen effects that will make it look like it’s from the 1950s all the way up to the version of Godzilla we saw in theaters this year.

You can expect special camera angles, screen tints, and more, according to the report. The game is currently scheduled to launch this winter in Japan, but there’s no word yet on a release in the United States or Europe.

A tie-in game was released alongside this year’s Godzilla movie called Godzilla: Strike Zone. The game is available today for free on iOS and Android.
