Nick Jonas is celebrating his latest wave of success on the heels of hit singles “Jealous” and “Chains,” but there’s a backhanded compliment the pop sensation can’t seem to shake.

“People [were] coming and saying things they don’t know are really offensive,” he said about fans’ reactions to the songs in a Thursday conversation with HuffPost Live about his DirecTV series “Kingdom.”

The remark might take the youngest Jonas by surprise, but he still sees the good in it.

“It’s actually a compliment, but it’s kind of phrased in a weird way,” he admitted.
