Celebrities are making the ice bucket challenge for ALS research their own these days, but Olivia Wilde’s cascade of breast milk may just top them all.
Wilde is on a roll bringing attention to breastfeeding rights. Earlier this month, she posed in a Glamour Magazine photoshoot while breastfeeding her 4-month-old son. The photos brought the defense of public breastfeeding back into the headlines.
“Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn’t complete without my identity as a mother being a part of that. Breast-feeding is the most natural thing… You can be someone who is at once maternal and professional and sexy and self-possessed,” she told Glamour.
Otis ordered milkshakes. Luckily I had some on me. Then he peed on my dress. Good kid. #boobfood #whennaturecalls pic.twitter.com/YC9OcJuRod

So when Wilde said she “couldn’t find any water” for her ice bucket challenge, she just did what came naturally.
“I’m going to use breast milk,” she says in the video as she hoists a large bucket filled with what looks like a mixture of milk and ice. “Took me all night to make this.”
Actually, the bucket wasn’t filled with pure breast milk — Wilde tweeted Monday that “my boobs aren’t that generous”. However, mission achieved: The star lowered her body temperature (“It really is, it really is cold,” she says in her video, after the splash), and more fans know about ALS research and public breastfeeding.
Her donation in addition to a dunking didn’t hurt either.
