Since Marvel seemed to go out of their way to give all the Original Sin tie-ins as confusing titles as possible, a quick recap is in order. Original Sins is a five-issue tie-in to the main Original Sin event. Each issue features a handful of short stories exploring how the outbreak of the Watcher’s carefully guarded secrets impacts various characters in the Marvel Universe. While other tie-ins like Original Sin #3.1-3.4 and books like Avengers and Deadpool focus on the major Marvel players, Original Sins is devoted towards B-List characters who don’t rate their own, dedicated titles.
With that out of the way, the question moves from “What is Original Sins?” to “Should I buy Original Sins?”. The answer may depend largely on your attachment to the characters involved. Issue #1 includes two half-length story segments (one focused on the new Deathlok and the other on the Young Avengers) and a shorter tale starring everyone’s favorite Pet Avenger/mode of transportation, Lockjaw. The overall result is very much a mixed bag, though it’s tempting to recommend this comic solely on the strength of the Lockjaw tale.
