Warning: Potential Doctor Strange movie spoilers follow…

While plot details were reportedly leaked from an early draft of the Doctor Strange movie last year, sources now say that version of the film has been completely scrapped, and a new script from Jon Spaihts (Prometheus) has been rumoured to not include Strange’s origin story at all.

On the Meet The Movie Press podcast, Badass Digest‘s Devin Faraci says that Marvel’s doesn’t want to focus on origin stories in their movies (perhaps taking cues from The Incredible Hulk). The 2010 draft of the Doctor Strange movie that was reportedly “in-house forever” is an origin story that features Baron Mordo as the main villain — but now Faraci says, “That’s all gone. Marvel’s new thing is no more origin stories. So, Dr. Strange movie no longer has an origin.”
