The NFL really might want to figure out a solution to the turf problem at the San Francisco 49ers’ $1.2 billion Levi’s Stadium, because it’s becoming a player safety issue.
During Thursday night’s game between the Seattle Seahawks and the 49ers, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson scrambled out of the pocket and decided to slide to avoid getting tackled by San Francisco safety Jaquiski Tartt.
Little did he know Levi’s Stadium’s turf might’ve been the more dangerous option.

While the turf didn’t ultimately cause any injury to Wilson, this is not the first notable instance of the stadium’s suspect turf.
Less than a week earlier, Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker also fell victim to the same turf monster when it almost swallowed his foot whole during a field goal attempt.
It’s time the NFL steps in and figures something out. Not only because the stadium will be hosting Super Bowl 50 in a little over 100 days, but because a player’s livelihood could depend on it.
