Sandra Bullock, who recently turned 50, has earned $51 million this past year, which places her at the top of Forbes’ list of Highest Paid Actresses. Coincidence? We think not. (Yeah, probably a coincidence.)
Thanks in major part to “Gravity,” which raked in $716 million globally, Bullock managed to upstage Jennifer Lawrence, Scarlett Johansson and Forbes’ highest paid actress for 2013, Angelina Jolie.
The aforementioned Lawrence landed in second plane on Forbes’ list, with $34 million from her latest “Hunger Games” and “X-Men” franchise installments. Jennifer Aniston came in third, with $31 million.
Forbes explains how it came up with its figures for the June 2013 to June 2014 time period, like so:
To come up with our earnings estimates we talked to agents, producers, lawyers and other in-the-know folks to figure out how much each celebrity earned from entertainment-related work during our 12 month time period. We didn’t deduct for taxes, agent fees or the other costs of being a celebrity.

Robert Downey Jr. was recently crowned 2014’s highest paid actor by the financial publication, with $75 million in earnings.
