Obviously it’s a big time for the Transformers franchise, what with the latest live-action film raking in piles of money and a new animated series, Robots in Disguise, set to premiere on the Hub network in spring 2015. Looking ahead to next year, Hasbro revealed what they have planned for their Transformers toy line in the months ahead.
It looks like Hasbro’s approach will be two-pronged. There will be a new Robots in Disguise toy line that adapts the animation style of the cartoon. Collectors can expect new takes on old favorites like Bumblebee and Starscream, as well as new Transformers like Underbite and Strongarm.
As for the Transformers Generations line, 2015 will introduce a new theme called Combiner Wars. Voyager Scale Transformers figures will double as torso pieces, while Deluxe Scale figures can be used as arm and leg pieces. Collectors can either use the figures to construct specific Combiners like Superion and Menasor, or mix and match to create their own characters. Think of it like “Transformers meets Voltron.”
