Amazon unveiled the animated video game anthology series Secret Level earlier this year before debuting the show on December 10. Now, just a week later, Amazon has confirmed that Secret Level will return for Season 2, but the streamer is currently remaining quiet about which games will be featured.
According to Variety, data from the entertainment analyst company Luminate states that Secret Level was watched for 155.3 million minutes in the United States by approximately 1.4 million users. Amazon didn’t disclose the shows exact numbers, but did note that Secret Level is the most-watched animated series debut on the streamer. That would go a long way towards explaining the fast renewal.
Secret Level was created by Deadpool director Tim Miller, who previously shepherded Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots anthology show. Season 1 of Secret Level included stories inspired by Dungeons & Dragons, Mega Man, Warhammer 40,000, Armored Core, and Pac-Man. The 13th episode was based on Sony’s doomed shooter Concord, which may be the game’s only lasting media presence now that it’s been delisted and shut down. The Concord episode tells the story of a ragtag crew who pull off the heist of a lifetime and ends on an ambiguous and hopeful note.
