It all started with a Janet Jackson video. In 1990, Antonio Sabato, Jr. was featured in the singer’s music video for her song “Love Will Never Do (Without You),” showcasing his dimples, good looks and sex appeal. After that, Sabato landed a role on the steamy daytime soap “General Hospital.” Then came his appearance in the memorable Calvin Klein underwear campaign that prompted The New York Times to refer to him as a “Michelangelo in bikini briefs.”
Ever since the ’90s, Sabato has been regarded as a sex symbol. But he’s still not comfortable with the label, as he explains on this weekend’s “Oprah: Where Are They Now?”
“I never considered myself a sex symbol,” he says in the above video from the show. “I still don’t know what that means!”
At age 42, Sabato is still in incredible shape, which he attributes to his involvement with one particular sport.
“Fitness is a really big part of my life,” he explains. “Now, I do gymnastics. I went into doing gymnastics every day, every morning. It pushes me.”
Sabato’s daily commitment to gymnastics seems to have paid off. “I feel great,” he says. “I’m in the best shape of my life.”
