It won the box office last weekend, but N.W.A biopic “Straight Outta Compton” struck out in baseball cap authenticity.
A scene features Eazy-E (played by Jason Mitchell), in 1986, wearing a Chicago White Sox hat with a design that didn’t appear on the team’s headgear until the 1990s.

A White Sox official told the Chicago Tribune that “the White Sox black cap and logo, as seen in the movie trailer, was introduced in September 1990 by the organization.”

Yahoo showed a picture of the real Eazy-E wearing the hat worn in the film, but reported that the photo dates to 1993.
Error charged to “Straight Outta Compton.”
