Before becoming the fly woman she is today, Jennifer Lopez was a fly girl on “In Living Color.”
The Bronx-born boricua joined the popular 90s sketch comedy show in 1991, after she caught the eye of the show’s creator, Keenan Ivory Wayans, during an open call in Hollywood.
In a 2010 episode of VH1’s Behind the Music episode about JLo, “In Living Color” creator Keenan Ivory Wayans said he knew there was something special about Lopez from the start.”I’d been there hours and seen every dancer in New York, and then this young girl steps up and a spotlight landed on her and she captivated everyone in the room,” Wayans recalled. “He just saw something in me,” Lopez confirms in the episode. “He would always tell me, ‘You’re going to be a big star.”
Wayans was absolutely right! Lopez left the show in 1993 to pursue her acting career and, the rest, as they say, is history. Now more than two decades later, 46-year-old Lopez is an international superstar who sings, dances, and acts in addition to producing and hosting her own television shows.
However, no matter how much time has elapsed or how much fame she amassed, La Lopez insists she’s still the same ol’ Jenny from the block who got her start busting moves in numbers like those featured below.
Join us as we take a look a look back at some of Jennifer Lopez’s flyest dance moves on “In Living Color.”
And that, my friends, is why Jennifer Lopez was, is, and always will be one of the flyest stars in Hollywood!
