Just when you finally got “Everything Is Awesome” out of your head, another version of “The Lego Movie’s” catchy theme song has been created.
Verve Search, a London creative marketing and search agency, was inspired by the blockbuster movie to develop a Google Chrome extension that replaces vulgar or potentially offensive terms with the word awesome, Mashable reported. When users enable the extension, negative words are replaced by the positive term, which shows up in cheery rainbow letters.
The extension is, appropriately, called Everything Is Awesome and is free for Chrome users to install.
It replaces curse words with the friendly term, like here, in a HuffPost Comedy blog titled Toys ‘R’ Us: The Seventh Circle of Hell, the extension renames the article to make the title more, well, awesome.
But, like any new apps, the program has its bugs. For example, while swear words are replaced with “awesome,” slang terms aren’t always recognized.
Also, the settings appear to be extra PG, even replacing the word “sex,” for instance, with “awesome,” shown here in a blog post from HuffPost Impact.
And in this HuffPost Good News post, where the extension replaced “messy” in this headline. Fine by us though, because puppies are, indeed, awesome.
However, the intention of the program is well-meaning and fun. James Congdon, a creative strategist at Verve Search said, according to HuffPost UK, the extension is intended to “inject some positivity into the search results.” Where the Internet can get dark, this app sheds some colorful light.
Sounds pretty awesome to us.
