Lobbyists are hired to affect legislation, secure government contracts or influence votes. On occasion, however, they take on the tasks and persona of an agent, catering to their clients’ whims and requests either as a matter of courtesy or to uphold the relationship.
During the latest episode of Drinking And Talking, we asked our panel of lobbyists and influence-peddlers to detail the craziest client request they had ever received. Only one, Heather Podesta, founder of Heather Podesta & Partners, had a response. And it was a good one: a 12:30 a.m. attempt to procure the cell phone number of an A-list movie actress during the White House Correspondent’s Dinner weekend.
“I take care of my clients,” Podesta said, when asked if she got it done. “Let’s just say I take care of my clients.”
