Motion comics aren’t for everyone, but they’ve proven popular enough with comic book readers that various companies are exploring new and different ways to make use of the format. Visionbooks is one company that’s built a business on adapting various comics into animated form. And today, they announced a partnership with Valiant Entertainment involving one of Valiant’s biggest franchises.
The deal will allow Visionbooks to adapt the first four issues of the current X-O Manowar series, comprising the opening story arc. These four issues were written by Robert Venditti and illustrated by Cary Nord. Visionbooks’ motion comic format preserves the original static panels and page layouts of the source material, but adds “dimensional action” in the form of animated explosions, smoke, weather, etc.
