MTV’s VMAs on Sunday night, Aug. 24, honored the late great Robin Williams with a short but touching tribute.

The beloved actor, who died earlier this month, on Aug. 11, will be honored at Monday night’s Emmy awards, but a VMAs tribute was unexpected.

During the awards ceremony, a slideshow with photos of Williams played, accompanied by Coldplay’s “Sky Full of Stars.” It was brief, but nonetheless a warm gesture for the VMAs to devote time to the actor who made us all laugh and cry in his many film and television roles.
