What is New York City’s best pie?
It’s a tough call — so a few pals of the famed “pizza rat” have been called in to help us out.
Friends of the rodent, who found fame in September after being filmed hauling a slice down subway stairs in the city’s East Village, were enlisted by New York Magazine for the task.
Pies from four of New York’s finest pizza-making establishments – Lombardi’s, Grimaldi’s, Motorino and Williamsburg Pizza — were left in a Chinatown park at night.
The furry critters were then filmed approaching and devouring the tasty treats, with scores awarded to the businesses depending on how many slices were eaten.
Grimaldi’s wasn’t to the rats’ taste, with none of the pieces stolen. The creatures took two slices of Williamsburg Pizza and 3.8 from the Motorino offering.
The night belonged to Lombardi’s, however, which won by a landslide when all of its eight segments were chowed down.
The video, posted to YouTube Sunday and going viral, ends by stating the real winners are actually the city’s rats — who get to eat all the delicious food.
