The best that can be said for Paul Cornell’s Wolverine run is that Cornell has never been afraid to play around and experiment with his style of presentation and the types of challenges Logan faces. That experimentation hasn’t always worked, but with a character who’s been around and appeared as frequently as Wolverine, it’s better to try new things than stick to old formulas. Unfortunately, Wolverine Vol. 6 has been noticeably weaker overall than Vol. 5 was last year. The main culprit seems to be the mad dash to the finish. Cornell only had 12 issues to maneuver his hero towards the events of The Death of Wolverine, and that never allowed the new characters and Wolverine’s time as a troubled outsider with a newfound fear of death to properly develop.
