The thought of seeing Goku, Vegeta, and the gang again after a 10-plus-year absence from my Cartoon Network days was enough to get me excited for the English theatrical debut of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. Sure a version of it screened in Japan last year, but seeing the beautifully crisp animation along with the triumphant return of the original English voice actors Seán Schemmel (Goku) and Christopher R. Sabat (Vegeta, Piccolo) is awesome. And of course, a handful of especially brutal fight scenes made the limited-time experience (you can only catch DBZ: Battle of Gods in theaters from August 5-9) even more powerful. But I wish I could have blasted a Kamehameha through all the campy filler plaguing almost half the film.
