Pokemon fans will be able to create their very own secret base in the upcoming Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games, the Pokemon Company announced today.
Players will be able to customise their bases, setting up mazes or traps for visitors in addition to setting their own Pokemon battle rules. This option effectively turns a secret base into a Pokemon Gym.
Secret bases will be sharable using the StreetPass feature. Alternatively, players can create a QR code for their secret base to share with friends. Upon visiting the secret base of another player, players can meet other trainers and invite them back to their own secret base as a secret pal.
Unlocking secret pals grants the ability to interact and battle with them and access their special skills. This includes sharing new decorations, speeding up the hatching of a Pokemon Egg, or levelling up a chosen Pokemon. Collecting more secret pals enables the use of more special skills.
Additionally, players will also be able to capture flags while in other players’ secret bases. Flags will be located beside the secret PC in each base, and more flags collected grant a higher rank. Higher ranks improve the skills of secret pals.
Nintendo announced Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in May. They are remakes of Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, but have been described as “fresh takes” on the originals. The games are scheduled for release on November 21 for the 3DS.
