Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy is certainly the most outrageously sci-fi film they’ve released thus far, featuring all manners of alien lifeforms and strange creatures.
With the movie hitting soon, we thought it’d be fun to take a look at some of those aliens. Specifically, the ones with green and blue skin! It’s not every day we see green woman assassins or big blue cosmic entities (or talking racoons, for that matter).
First Appearance: Iron Man #55
Created By: Mike Friedrich and Jim Starlin
Drax the Destroyer began his existence as a human named Arthur Douglas, who was attacked and killed by Thanos – yep, that Thanos – alongside his family (aside from his daughter, who was taken back to Titan and would later become Moondragon). And then Kronos came along, Thanos’ grandfather, to transplant Douglas’ soul into a new body that gave him the power of flight, superhuman strength, and energy blasts. In his new body, Arthur Douglas became Drax the Destroyer, whose sole purpose was to put an end to Thanos.
