The Joker Is Finally Coming To 'Gotham'

Let’s put a smile on that face. After Monday’s “Gotham,” Fox released a preview for the show’s next episode “The Blind Fortune Teller,” teasing the highly anticipated arrival the city’s next villain: the Joker. While the teaser didn’t explicitly name the Joker, it did say that the new villain was “no joke” before cutting to a quick glimpse of Cameron Monaghan (“Shameless,” “The Giver”), called Jerome on the show, maniacally smiling and laughing.

Fans have been waiting for the Batman supervillain to show up in “Gotham,” and even speculated that Oswald Cobblepot could be the Joker. While that theory isn’t true, we’ll be seeing the Joker sooner than expected. “Gotham” executive producer Bruno Heller told TV Guide earlier this month that the Joker would appear before the end of the first season.

The episode, which airs next Monday, follows James Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie) visit to the circus with Dr. Leslie Thompkins (Morena Baccarin) when it suddenly comes under attack. Jerome will apparently be at the circus, according to a new photo. Check out the image below and teaser above.

“Gotham” airs on Monday at 8:00 p.m. ET on Fox.
