Have we had our first look at a Jurassic World raptor?

Chris Pratt’s Jurassic World may feel like it’s a million years (BC) from hitting your local popcorn emporium, but it’s actually less than 12 months away.

So it’s about time we got our first proper look at one of the dinos from the film, albeit in a slightly strange way.

The below picture was uploaded to Instagram from Valencia, California – home of Legacy Effects, the team responsible for bringing Colin Trevorrow’s dinos to life.

The beast certainly looks like he’s from the Jurassic franchise, but it’s a bit odd that the reveal has come via a relatively obscure social media account and not, say, Colin’s Twitter (which has had some great teases throughout production).

Anyway, the good news is the toothy terror looks fantastic, we’re really glad that the team are going down a practical route – the mixture of practical effects and CGI stuff is what made the original film so special.

We’re also glad they’ve had the foresight to create a metal muzzle for the blood-thirsty creature. We’re sure that’ll sort it and nothing can possibly go wrong.

Jurassic World is released 12 June 2015.
