PS4 v1.72 Update Hitting "Soon" Will Improve Software Stability

Sony has announced that a new system software update for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles will be released “soon”. Version 1.72 for the PS4 and version 4.60 for the PS3 will improve the stability of the system software “during use of some features.”

The news was posted on the official PlayStation Twitter account. It is not known if any new apps will be introduced in the updates. The previously released PS4 system software update, version 1.71, was launched on June 3.

Earlier updates to the PlayStation 4 system software have introduced a number of new features, including the SHAREfactory app and the option to preload games purchased digitally from the PlayStation Store.

The system will be getting a major new feature this summer in PlayStation Now, Sony’s streaming game service. The feature is currently in beta and will be launched for the PS4, PS3, and PlayStation Vita, as well as certain Bravia TVs.
