Star Citizen Reaches An Astonishing $51 Million In Funding

The crowdfunding campaign for Star Citizen, the upcoming PC space simulator from Wing Commander creator Chris Roberts, has reached $51 million in funding. This is up from $49 million recorded just two weeks ago. At press time funding stands at $51,096,609 from 525,341 backers.

The new funding milestone was recorded over the weekend following the release of new ships for sale that go for as much as $350. You can see the new rigs at Star Citizen’s website.

Just recently, Star Citizen developer Cloud Imperium Games released trailers for the game’s first-person shooter, racing, and planetary exploration modules. The FPS module is being developed by a different, unnamed studio. We may learn more about it at PAX Australia this fall.
