Flying in the 1950s did have some elements of luxury we don’t see anymore, but the in-flight entertainment experience has come a long way over the years.
This photo shows one of the first in-flight movies. It’s technically not the first, despite the banner on the aircraft. This sky-high movie experience took place on April 6, 1925, when an Imperial Airways flight from London to Paris screened Hollywood’s “The Lost World” from a projector for passengers to enjoy.
If you’re curious, the first movie shown during a flight appears to have been “Howdy Chicago” and was shown on an eleven-passenger hydroplane in 1921.
